PC member stresses tit-for-tat reply to Pakistani shelling

Oct 02, 2017 - 20:03

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Provincial Council (PC) member of eastern Nangarhar province has said Pakistani forces once again resumed firing rockets on Lalpura, Achin and Nazyan districts.

PC Head Ahmad Ali Hazrat during an exclusive interview told Pajhwok Afghan News Pakistani forces fired 20 to 50 rockets in 24 hours, asking authorities to respond to the aggression of the neighbouring country in a similar manner.

He said two children of a family had been killed and three other injured in the recent shelling from the other side of the Durand Line.

“Three months back Pakistani military fired rockets into bordering districts which resulted in mass displacement. We shared the issue with central authorities, but to no avail,” he said.

He stressed the government should respond to Pakistani aggression in the same pattern.

Haji Sultan, the resident of Lalpura district said some families had been yet again forced to flee homes due to the Pakistani shelling.

Sher Gul, a resident of Nazyan district, said the residents of area suffered casualties and financial losses due to the firing of rockets by Pakistani military.

Governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani confirmed Pakistani forces recommenced rocket attacks in some areas and inflicted losses on the people.

He said security forces were fully prepared to respond in a this-for-that manner to the Pakistani violence but nod of permission from the central government was needed.
