Our strength lies in unity, says President Ghani

Our strength lies in unity, says President Ghani

Mar 14, 2018 - 18:41

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani emphasized on political patience on Wednesday in order to allow opportunities to increase, saying the strength of Afghans lied in their unity.

Speaking at a gathering marking the 23th death anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari, the president said the national unity government (NUG) was created to preserve unity and end disunity. It was created for welfare, peace and stability of the country, the president said.

Ghani said the establishment of the unity government was not easy but the demand of time.

“We have to consider the past because without the past we would not be able to know our present and future.”

He added: “We should have a brief understanding of our history to know the real problems of people.”

The president said losing political patience meant losing the huge opportunities ahead. “We should end the four decades of war and refrain from prolonging it.”

He urged unity among all ethnicities and said there was no power in the world to divide Afghanistan and their designs had been naturalized.

High Peace Council (HPC)  chief Mohammad Karim Khalili praised services and achievements of veteran jihad commander Abdul Ali Mazari and termed his legacy a solution to present  problems of Afghanistan

He said peace, social justice and end to war had been the mission of Mazari.

He said peace was the need of people and the National Unity Government (NUG) had taken many steps to establish it.
