Scotland thrashes Afghanistan in WCQ opener

Scotland thrashes Afghanistan in WCQ opener

Mar 04, 2018 - 19:25

KABUL (Pajhwok): Scotland beats Afghanistan in the World Cup Qualifiers  (WCQ) opening match by seven wickets at Bulawayo on Sunday.

Scotland won the toss and decided to field first. Afghanistan batting was shaky at the beginning when three main batsmen sent back to the dressing room at the total score of 46.

Nabi and Najibullah’s over 100 runs partnership helped Afghanistan put a competitive total of 255 to Scotland.

Scotland bowlers bowled well and took wickets in regular intervals to restrict the Afghan side from building a mammoth total.

In reply, the Scottish batsmen took a careful start and besides losing two early wickets they managed to get to the target easily, thanks to CS MacLeod magnificent tone of 146 balls 157.

Berrington also contributed with his 95 balls 67 runs in the Scotland win.

Afghan bowlers did not trouble the Scottish batsmen a lot. Mujib’s early two wickets was an early damage to the opposition but they later managed to get to the target of 256 at the loss of only four wickets.
