Abdullah orders attention to Faryab situation

Abdullah orders attention to Faryab situation

Feb 19, 2018 - 19:10

KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Monday expressed his concern over the security situation in northern Faryab province and issued directives to security officials in this regard.

Presiding over his weekly Cabinet meeting, the CEO said the unstable security situation in Faryab had worried its residents. The overall security of Faryab and special central areas needed special efforts, he added.

He said directed the ministries of defense, interior and the National Directorate of Security to address security issues in Faryab.

Recently gunmen loyal to First Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum surrounded an area around the airport in Faryab and tried to capture a Wolesi Jirga member Fathullah Qaisari.

Qaisari had said he was in Faryab to visit his family and voters, but armed men belonging to Nizamuddin Qaisari, a close aide of Dostum, attempted to kidnap him.

But Qaisari had claimed Fathullah and Rahmatullah Turkistani, a former police chief of Jawzjan province, plotted to kill him by planting a landmine. The two men had tasked a man with killing Qaisari against 1.5 million afghanis, he alleged.
