KABUL (Pajhwok): Indian Under-19 (U-19) cricket team beat Australian U-19 team by eight wickets in the final of International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup final match in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand on Saturday.

Australian won the toss and decided to bat first in the final match of the multinational tournament. They failed to make good total against India, a side known for good batting.

Indian bowlers took wickets at regular intervals and did not allow the opposition batsmen to play freely. J Merlo from Austrial was impressive with his 102 balls 76. Australia managed to score 216 in 10 wickets.

In reply, Indian openers took stable and quick start to the game and did not allow Australian bowlers to take early wickets and shake their batting line.

Indian opener Manjot Karla scored magnificent unbeaten century of 102 in the crucial contest and steer his team to victory.

Indian reached the target of 217 in 38.5 overs with the loss of two wickets.

Afghanistan’s journey in the World Cup ended in the semi-final and grabbed fourth position in the tournament.
