Mother of 4 jumps to death from Faryab peak

Mother of 4 jumps to death from Faryab peak

Dec 25, 2017 - 16:51

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A young ‘mentally ill’ woman jumped to her death from a mountain summit in the Kohistan district of northern Faryab province, an official said on Monday.

The 25-year-old married woman allegedly jumped from a 300-meter height in Hawz Maran locality on Sunday evening, Kohistan district chief Abdul Rahman Panah and a resident of the area told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Panah identified the mother of four children as Humaira, who had been suffering from psychological illness and had been a victim of domestic violence.

He said Humaira could no longer withstand the violence she was subjected to by her husband and in-laws.

Panah added Humaria left behind four children and that no one had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Abdul Rasoul, a resident of the area, said the mountain summit from where Humaira dropped herself was 300 metres high. Her body was completely broken and scratched, he added.
