Laghman land usurpers being identified, prosecuted

Nov 26, 2017 - 18:57

MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): The Military Council in eastern Laghman province has ordered identification and detection of all land grabbers in the province to face legal action, a statement said on Sunday.

A joint statement issued by the provincial military council and the land-usurpation prevention commission said all those illegal land occupants in the capital, Mehtarlam, and districts would be brought to justice as per the newly signed law, no matter who they are or what position they hold.

The statement said ‘security’ was the demand of all people and it was vital and fundamental to good governance, development, social well-being, ensuring social justice, national sovereignty and implementation of any beneficial plan.

It further said joint efforts and cooperation by provincial local administration and the nation was needed for ensuring security. “Reliable security is impossible without public support.”

“Therefore, all civil, security, detective, military, and justice organizations are operating in coordination to bring about necessary environment that ensures security through law enforcement and better services delivery. These institutes are working jointly to overcome and prevent all those challenges and hurdles in the way of security.”

It went on to say that as per recently issued law, serious actions had been authorized against preventing of land occupation, land grabbers, fraud and forgery.

It said illegal land grabbing was a notorious phenomenon badly damaging the government’s prestige and also prevented implementation of development projects.

Civil, security, detective, justice organizations and anti-land grabbing commissions in the capital, Mehtarlam, and five districts have been tasked to reclaim grabbed lands and prevent further land usurpation.

Land grabbers no matter who they are and what level they possess should be identified and dealt with legally under the new law.
