Daesh restricted to limited areas in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A military commander on Sunday said operations against Daesh or Islamic State group were underway in four districts of eastern Nangarhar province.
Gen. Mohammad Nasim Sangin, the Selab Military Corps fourth battalion commander, told a press conference in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, that the Daesh group had been severely beaten in Nangarhar and its activities reduced to limited areas in the four districts.
Sangin said the joint Afghan security forces were currently conducted operations against Daesh affiliates in Mamand Dara area of Achin district, in Aughaz and Gorgori areas of Haska Mena district, Tora Bora area of Pachirawgam district and Wazir Tangi area of Khogyani district.
He said Daesh rebels after their defeat in Shinwari district moved to Tora Bora and from there they were driven to Wazir Tangi area in Khogyani where they were not allowed to regroup and were defeated.
He said the security forces had air support of Afghan and foreign forces in their operations against Islamic State.
He said Daesh militants had restricted their activities to limited areas in the four districts.
