Ghani attends Louvre Abu Dhabi opening ceremony

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has participated at the inauguration ceremony of Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, a statement from Presidential Palace said on Thursday.

Art and historical monuments from all over the world, including from Afghanistan, would be put on display in the museum.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; French President Emmanuel Macron; and Morocco's King Mohammed VI were among those present at the grand opening.

Main Louvre Museum was situated in the French capital Pairs 35,000 historical monuments were being kept, but governments of UAE and France had agreed to construct similar museum in Abu Dhabi as well.

The museum is constructed on artificial island stretched to 24,000 square metres area at the cost of 100 million euro and historical items worth billion of dollar would be put on display.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the museum would help improve the image of UAE in the international arena and it would be a base for culture and art.
