A dozen rebels killed in Nangarhar clashes, infighting

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A dozen militants have been killed including Daesh and Taliban during clashes with security forces and infighting eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.

Daesh and Taliban rivals clashed in the Khogyani district early on Saturday morning, leaving eight dead on both the sides in Sapari area, the governor’s spokesman said.

Attaullah Khogyani added five Daesh and three Taliban were killed in the infighting that occurred at about 5am.

Separately, two Taliban gunmen were killed during a clash with police in Sargadan square area of Batikot district last night.

A separate but near simultaneous clash between Taliban and police left two militants injured in Dara-i-Noor district, Khogyani said.

Police escaped unharmed in both the attacks.

Elsewhere, a young boy was killed when a warhead he was playing with went off in Shoib village of Chaparhar district yesterday.

Khogyani identified the victim as Wasiullah who was first wounded in the blast but succumbed to his wounds in hospital.
