2 civilians, 7 insurgents killed in Wardak incidents

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least two civilians and seven insurgents have been killed during separate incidents of violence in central Maidan Wardak province, police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Mohammad Naqib Amini told Pajhwok Afghan News insurgents fired mortar shells into Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital, on Wednesday noon.

One of the shells hit a shop, killing two people inside and injuring two others.

Meanwhile, Afghan forces conducted operations in areas around the city, including Deh Afghanan and Qala-i-Ziyarat, he added.

He said the raids resulted in the killing of seven insurgents and injuries to five others. Amini said security forces suffered no casualties in the operations.

There has been so far no word from insurgents in this regard.
