25 Taliban killed in fresh Helmand offensives

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Twenty-five Taliban have been killed and scores injured during clashes in the Garamser and Washir districts of southern Helmand province, officials said on Monday.

Governor spokesman Abdul Salam Afghan told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces launched clearing operation in Garamser district on Sunday in which 13 Taliban had been killed.

During the operation security forces captured the Khari locality, recovered walkie-talkie and 20 landmines, he said.

The spokesman added situation in Nad Ali returned to normalcy and more check-posts would be established.

District Chief Gul Mohammad Hashami said no check-posts had been established in areas cleared from insurgents, adding that militants had been purged some other areas as well.

Governor spokesman Umar Zwak said clearing operation had been launched in Washir district. Militants had been purged from some areas of the district.

Maj. Mohammad Raza Raza, spokesman for the 4th brigade of Maiwand Military Corps, said fresh offensive had been launched in the Helmand’s Washir and Nimroz Dilaram districts.

He claimed 12 Taliban had been killed and 10 other injured during offensive.
