2 agriculture officials go missing in Faryab

Oct 19, 2017 - 18:58

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Suspected militants have abducted two Agriculture Ministry employees after killing their driver in Dawlatabad district of northern Faryab province, an official said on Thursday.

The two officials --- Nooruddin and Mohammad Ismael --- were on their way to Maimana from Kabul on Wednesday evening when they were kidnapped in Dawlatabad district, Faryab agriculture director Mohammad Saleem Ranjbar said.

A reliable source at the Agriculture Department said: “Family members of the kidnapped employees have telephoned us many times since last night asking about the missing persons.”

“They are ordinary employees working against 7,500 afghanis monthly salary to feed their children,” the source quoted family members of the abducted individuals as saying.

Dawlatabad district police chief Col. Tofan confirmed the kidnapping and said militants had shot dead their driver named Khalefa Mohammad Hashim at their check-point near the bridge of Dawlatabad district. The slain driver hailed from Baloch Tort Kol locality of Sherin Tagab district.
