KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah strongly condemned the Taliban attack on police headquarters in southeastern Paktia province.

Forty people were killed and 165 injured in early morning attack on Police Training Centre and Police headquarters in Gardez, the provincial capital.

A statement from Presidential Palace said security forces inflicted heavy losses on insurgents in the past few months and foiled their attempts of subversive activities in parts of the country.

While condemning the recent terrorist attacks, including today’s Paktia attack, the President hailed courage and bravery of security forces. “History will remember the names of brave soldiers and martyrs and the people of Afghanistan will remain thankful to their sacrifices,” said the president.

“We stand against these criminals and defend every inch of our country and will never allow our country to become safe-haven for terrorist and their affiliates,” the statement said.

The CEO office also denounce the Paktia attack and said the Taliban’s criminality continued and again brought grief to some families of the country with their unforgivable act today.
