Daesh asked to accept Red Crescent Society’s impartiality

JALALBAD (Pajhwok): The Red Crescent Society head for the eastern zone on Monday asked Daesh or so-called Islamic State group to recognize the society as an impartial body.

Mohammad Iqbal Saeed told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of crescent week in Jalalabad that Daesh was not cooperating with the society and had stolen one of its ambulances.

He said they faced no problem with regard to security in the entire eastern zone encompassing Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Nurisgtan provinces.

He said Daesh affiliates snatched their ambulance about two years back and had offered conditional handover of the vehicle, but they refused to accept their conditions.

“Our demand is that Daesh like other insurgent groups should recognize us as an impartial body because we work for all,” Saeed said.

The society’s head for Nangarhar, Mohammad Nader Jabbarkhel, said the week was aimed at collecting charities from people.

He said they had collected tens of thousands of aghanis in a similar campaign last year and they were expecting the same zeal this time too.

Workers of the Red Crescent Society said their operations were beneficial in districts as their aid reached the most deserving families.
