35-km water supply pipe inaugurated in Jawzjan

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A 35-kilomter irrigation water supply pipeline project was inaugurated in Shiberghan, the capital of northern Jawzjan province, on Sunday.

Eng. Mohamad Ayub Newand, Afghan Gas Group Pipelines Protection in-charge, said the scheme pub into services today would irrigate agriculture farms inside the provincial capital.

“Gas supply pipes have also been used in this project. Six deep wells were dug in Jagdlek area form where the water is supplied,” he said.  

Mohammad Ajmal Bakhtari, a resident, said the agriculture water project was vital for people living in the city but they needed safe drinking as well.

Governor Mualvi Lotfullah Azizi said a strategy was being formulated to execute drinking water supply projects in the city.

He said incomplete drinking water schemes of the municipality would be completed soon in different municipal districts of the city.
