Afghan elders visit Landikotal with peace message

Oct 12, 2017 - 13:29

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Afghan elders and religious scholars have visited Pakistan's border town of Landikotal, calling for peace and friendship between the two neighbours.

The visiting delegation, including influential figures, stressed the need for closer relations and greater cooperation on meeting common challenges, Pakistani media reported on Thursday.

Led by Maulvi Muhammad, the team was warmly received by political tehsildar Shamsul Islam at the Durand Line on Wednesday morning.

The delegates also visited Michini checkpost, where Assistant Political Agent Niaz Muhammad and noted tribal elders welcomed them, according to The News International.

Maulvi Jabir, Maulvi Inayatullah, Maulvi Sher Muhammad, Ustad Zakaria, Ameer Lal Muhammad, Ustad Allahyar and Maulvi Masoom Gul were part of the visiting team.

They also drove to the Landikotal Army Garrison and met Political Agent Khalid Mehmood and other officials. Special contingents of Khassadars and Levies escorted the Afghan elders.
