Ghani orders AGO to probe discriminatory letter

Ghani orders AGO to probe discriminatory letter

Sep 23, 2017 - 12:49

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has directed the Attorney General Officer (AGO) to investigate a letter containing discriminatory remarks found in the Office of Administrative Affairs.

Some days back, a letter from the office's telegram group leaked indicated that the number of Tajik, Hazara and Ozbek officers should be reduced in the office.

The letter was widely criticised and the person accused of drafting it said his computer had been misused.

Ghani was iffended by reading details of the letter, the Presidential Palace said. “Ghani condemns racism in all forms, particularly in government organs," his office said.

"He would not allow any individual or foundation to damage national unity among Afghans,” a statement from the Palace said.

It added the president had directed the AGO to thoroughly investigate the issue and treat those found involved in accordance with the law of the land.

“The beauty, power and stability of Afghanistan is dependent on the equality of all tribes of this country. Representing them is my biggest pride,” the president remarked.
