Afghanistan Pakistan discussed bilateral relation

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai has held a meeting with Pakistan Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York, a media report said on Wednesday.

They discussed measures for achieving the common objective of peace and stability in Afghanistan and the strengthening of engagement between the two countries. 

Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated that Afghan government was committed to strengthen relations with Pakistan stressing on the need of engagement between the two sides at all levels.

Foreign Secretary Janjua reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire for lasting peace in Afghanistan which was important for regional stability. Emphasizing that there was no military solution to the Afghan conflict, she said that there was a need to focus on a politically negotiated settlement under an Afghan-owned Afghan-led peace process. 

Foreign Secretary added that Pakistan and Afghanistan should work together for strengthening cooperation in diverse fields.
