Sep 17, 2017 - 14:19

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has traveled to Turkmenistan to attend the inaugural ceremony for Asian Games and meet his Tajik and Turkmen counterparts.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said on Sunday Ghani left Kabul at the head of a high-level delegation on a daylong official visit to Turkmenistan in the morning.

Besides attending the inaugural ceremony for Asian games, Ghani will hold one-on-one meetings with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the president of Turkmenistan, and Emomali Rahmon, his Tajikistan counterpart.

Two hundred Afghan athletes, 30 percent of them female, are taking part in 16 different disciplines of Asian games.

National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar, Finance Minister Eklil Hakemi, Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, presidential advisors and cabinet members are accompanying the president.
