Legendary Treasures of Silk Road Exhibition opens in China

Legendary Treasures of Silk Road Exhibition opens in China

Sep 13, 2017 - 13:30

BEIJING (Pajhwok): An exhibition -- Legendary Treasures of the Silk Road: Precious Collections from the National Museum of Afghanistan -- has opened in the Dunhuang city of Gansu province

The event at the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes Museum comes after the successful holding of the Afghanistan Treasures Exhibition in Beijing between March and June this year.

The exhibition is supported by the National Museum of Afghanistan, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Japan-based Chinese Kouzan Fine Arts Company and the Dunhuang Academy.

On display are some of the most exquisite ancient archaeological artefacts from Afghanistan, dating back to at least 4000 years and including the majestic Bactrian Gold collection.

Afghanistan's rich cultural heritage are illustrated by the collection, which also illustrates the country's place and role as a major crossroads of world civilisations.

Cultural exchanges such as this one are an important pillar of the Afghanistan-China strategic partnership and will further strengthen friendship and understanding between the two peoples.
