KABUL (Pajhwok): Three people were killed and five others wounded when a suicide bomber, trying to enter the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) headquarters, blew himself up on Wednesday, an official said.

Basir Mujahid, spokesman for 101 Police Asmayee Zone, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a suicide bomber on foot attempted to attack the ACB.

But when police stopped him at the gate, the attacker detonated explosives strapped to his body, he said.

The dead included one policeman and the injured included two policemen, he said.

The attack happened amid an ongoing domestic cricket tournament “Shpageeza Cricket League” at the Kabul international stadium where the ACB offices are located.

Police forces have been deployed at three locations of the playground to keep security for the tournament.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
