2 rebel commanders, 3 civilians killed in Nangarhar operation

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two Taliban commanders and three civilians have been killed in an Afghan Special Forces operation in the Lalpura district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.

The operation was launched in the Beli area of the district on Saturday night, Ghalib Mujahid, the district's administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said Taliban commander named Liaqat and his deputy were killed when a house was raided by the Special Forces. Three civilians were also killed and three militants injured in the incident, he added.

The district chief alleged the civilians were killed in Taliban's gunfire. Some weapons belonging to the militants were also destroyed in the operation. Afghan forces suffered no casualties Mujahid said.

The Taliban have not commented yet on the incident.
