KABUL (Pajhwok): Intelligence officials on Monday produced an injured Pakistani rebel fighter before the media in Kabul after he was captured by security forces during a clash with Taliban militants in the Janikhel district of southeastern Paktia province.

The Pakistani, Mohammad Ismat from Pakistan’s Punjab province, who was captured in injured condition, was presented to journalists at the National Directorate of Security (NDS) office here.

Ismat, who spoke in Urdu, said he was arrested by Afghan security forces in injured condition during a clash in Janikhel district. He said Afghan forces after his medical treatment in Gardez transferred him to Kabul.

He said propaganda campaign of Jaish-i-Mohammad, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and Sepahi Sahaba on loudspeakers in mosques in Punjab province encouraged him to jump into the fight against the Afghan government.

He said training camps of terrorist groups were situated near Zafar village of Punjab and in Tal, a locality in Khyber Pakhunkhawa province.

Ismat said he was loyal to Maulvi Masum group in Janikhel district.  He asked the Pakistani people, particularly Punjabis, not to come to Afghanistan for fighting because all of the Afghan security forces were Muslim and there was no infidel.
