Afghanistan thrash Nepal for third successive triumph

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan registered their third consecutive victory against Nepal in the ICC Asia Under-19 World Cup Qualifier in Singapore on Thursday.

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the national side was invited to bat after Nepal won the toss and opted to bowl first.

The Afghans set a 190 runs target after playing 49.4 overs and were all out. Ibrahim Zadran scored an unbeaten 43 runs, Naveed Obaid 33, Tariq Stanikzai 27, Naveen-ul-Haq 20 and Imran Mohammad made 18 runs.

The Nepalese could not stay at the crease due to fierce bowling from the Afghans and were bundled out for just 49 run in the 26th over, with Afghanistan winning  the match by a huge margin of 141 runs.

For Afghanistan, Naveen-ul-Haq clinched four wickets including a marvelous hat-trick, Mujib Zadran took three, Zahir Paktian two and Yousuf Zazai grabbed one wicket.

Afghanistan enjoy a psychological edge in the event after defeating Singapore and Malaysia in earlier encounters.
