Apr 27, 2017 - 15:05

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Fifteen civilians were injured on Thursday when a bomb rigged to a cycle went off in the Batikot district of eastern Nangarhar province.

The blast took place at the district centre’s Hafiz Kodi square, injuring 15 civilians, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Five of the injured were in critical condition and the rest were discharged after treatment at the provincial civil hospital, the official said.

Governor Gulab Mangal condemned the blast and directed the public heath department to ensure the injured were paid special attention.

A resident of the area, Malyar, told Pajhwok the blast occurred at about 11am at the busy square.

He said the square was busy place where often crowd could be seen and that was why the blast injured several people.
