Karzai vows to pull US forces out of Afghanistan

Karzai vows to pull US forces out of Afghanistan

Apr 15, 2017 - 19:02

KABUL (Pajhwok): Former President Hamid Karzai on Saturday said the US has violated Afghanistan’s sovereignty and insulted honor of Afghans by dropping the GBU-43/B, the heaviest non-nuclear bomb, in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province.

Talking to a press conference about the Durand Line organized by Mihwar-I-Mill Party, Karzai said the GBU-43/B bomb not only violated the sovereignty and dishonored the Afghanistan territory, but it also poisoned the environment of the bombarded area where people could no longer live.

“As our people remain less educated and wandering for long years, the US thought that no one would ask it about its deeds in this land, but it is wrong. The government committed a national treason if it supports this attack, I ask the government that how it let the US to drop a nuclear-sized bomb in Afghanistan,” Karzai said.

“I twice decided to stand against oppressors and defend my land, my decision yielded positive results too, once I tried on yesterday to rescue Afghanistan from the oppression, cruelty and terror of America,” Karzai added.

The former president said the recent US bombardment was testing of one of the deadliest bombs in Afghanistan.

He said the Afghan government announced that it coordinated the attack with the US forces, but he as a citizen of Afghanistan did not accept the government to represent him in national interests, wishes, sovereignty and his fate. “We decided to take the US out of this land,”

Karzai said he respected the nation of America, but he as a person wanted his country to be stable and people in peace. “That was the reason I did not sign the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the US” he said.

“Taliban are from Afghanistan, but where the Daesh or so-called Islamic State (IS) militants came from, why the US did not stop Daesh when they sneaked into Afghanistan, if they infiltrated from Pakistan then who supported them and why?” he argued.

“Why we are turned into a laboratory of US’s deadliest weapons under the excuse of fight against terror, I am very happy that I once again reached to a decision that convinced my soul to clean this land from the evil of America,” he said.

He called the Durand Line a national and historic matter and said Pakistan has repeatedly told him to limit his relations with India and recognize the Durand Line.

However, Karzai said all Afghans should know Pakistan would claim on more Afghanistan land if the Durand Line was given to it.

The US Department of Defense announced it had used the MOAB on IS or Daesh hideouts and tunnels in Achin district of Nangarhar province late on Thursday.

Nangarhar officials said 94 Daesh militants including a number of their commanders were killed in the bombardment.

This was the first time the US dropped one of heaviest bombs, also called the mother of all bombs on Daesh militants in Afghanistan. The Afghan government said that the attack was coordinated with Afghan forces.

In response to Karzai remarks, the Presidential Palace said that everyone had the right to express their opinions and benefit from the freedom of expression.
