Fire at fuel reservoir inflicts financial losses in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Fire erupted into flames at oil reservoir in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, causing heavy financial losses to people, an official said on Saturday.  

The fire broke out today (Saturday) afternoon in Bagrami locality of the 7th municipal district of Jalalabad city the fire was still burning as of 4:30pm.

Fire brigade chief, Maj. Fazal Hadi Sahibzada, told Pajhwok Afghan News the fire broke out due to the negligence on the part of shopkeepers. “The fire is under control and it has not spread to other areas but it is still burning.”

The official had no information about the losses caused by the fire; however he guessed heavy financial losses might be occurred.

A local resident named Abdulllah thanked fire extinguishing team, insisting other organisations should also cooperate as the fire was strongly flaming up.

Another local resident Zar Mohammad criticized fire brigade team’s process as they were unable to put out the fire for the past three hours. 

Efforts at seeking comments from shopkeepers about losses did not succeed.    

Earlier, several times fires have broken out in Jalalabad due to carelessness by shopkeepers that have inflicted heavy financial losses on people.
