KABUL (Pajhwok): Ministers of foreign affairs, public works and labour were disqualified by the Wolesi Jirga, or lower house of parliament, on Saturday.

On November 9, the house decided to summon 17 ministers who spent less than 70 percent of their development budgets during the current solar year.

Lawmakers voted out Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Labour and Social Affairs Minister Nasrin Oryakhel and Public Works Minister Mahmood Baligh.

The information the three ministers provided about budget spending did not convince the legislators. The house decided to vote on determining the fate of the cabinet members.

As a result, 140 of the 207 public representatives present in today’s session voted against Rabbani, 167 against Mahmood Baligh and 144 against Nasrin Oryakhel.
