Taliban notorious commander killed, 2 rebels arrested in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A notorious Taliban commander has been killed during a clash in Lalpoor district while two foreign rebels detained in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Sunday.

Attualluah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Taliban commander known as Omar was killed during a clash with security forces in Cricket Maidan area of Lalpoor district on Saturday night.

He said that security forces and civilians suffered no casualties during the clash.

Separately, two militants linked with Lashkar-I-Islam group were detained in police search operation in Abdullahkhe area of Achin district.

Provincial police spokesman, Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal identified the detainee as Jinad and Jan Mohammad and said both had Pakistani identity cards and belonged to Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

On the other hand, a statement from Nangarhar police headquarter said five roadside bombs planted by militants in Sargardan Chawk area of Bati Kot district.

Another statement from governor’s house of Nangarhar said that three machines, two pistols and a gun were seized discovered in the outskirt of the sixth police district of Jalalabad city, the provincial capital.

Taliban did not comment on the incidents yet.
