Substation supplying electricity to 3 provinces built in Parwan

Substation supplying electricity to 3 provinces built in Parwan

Nov 29, 2015 - 13:30

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The construction of a power substation, supplying electricity to three provinces, has been completed in the Jabalus Saraj district of central Parwan, an official said on Sunday.

Parwan Sectoral Director Mohammad Tahir Himmat told Pajhwok Afghan News that the power substation’s construction costing 6.7 million US dollars had been financed by India.

The substation would help supply 16 megawatts of electricity to Parwan, 16 megawatts to Panjsher and 20 megawatts to Kapisa provinces, he said.

Power cables had already been extended to Parwan and the electricity supply need of 60 percent population of Charikar, the capital of Parwan, would be met. Himmat added 40 percent of Charikar already had access to electricity.

Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) head for Kapisa, Ghulam Haidar Seddiqi, said that it would take a month supplying electricity to parts of the capital of the province.

Abdullah, a resident of the Hofyan area of Charikar, was happy over the completion of the project. “We have waited for a long time and hope to have electricity soon. Power supply will solve lots of our problems.”

Himmat said work on building a second substation in the Hesa Awal district of Parwan was underway. All parts of the capitals of Panjsher and Kapisa will be provided electricity when the second substation is completed.
