He said the structure enabled nearly 400 students of the Mir Ali Ahmad Shaheed School to study in a proper enviornment. Rarleir the students had to study in tents and under the open sky, he said.

The new bulding has 24 classrooms and eight administrive offices and has the capacity to accomdate 800 studens. The students would be soon shifted to the building from the makesshfit arrangment, the director said.

Counternarcotics Ministry official Ibrhim Azhar said the building was a gift from the ministry for the people of Parwan after the province was declared a poppy-free zone.

He said the ministry wanted to encourage the youth into getting education and staying away from drug abuse.

Maryam Mohammadi, a student of the school, said earlier their school had no building and they had to study in the open.
