3 roads inaugurated in Jawzjan, Nimroz

SHEBERGHAN/ ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Three separate roads of 15 kilometres length have been inaugurated in northern Jawzjan and southwestern Nimroz provinces on Saturday, officials said.

The first 4-kilometre road had been asphalted in Khanaqa district and the second 9-kilometres road connecting Khanaqa and Aqcha districts was graveled in Jawzjan province.

The third road has been constructed in Kang district of Nimroz province. Attaullah Kargar, director of Jawzjan public works, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two projects were funded by Sweden, which cost $1million.

Mohammad Shah, a local, recalled the people were facing with great problems in winter season, which had now been resolved. “Because of damaged roads we had a lot of trouble carrying our patients to hospitals in winter,” he added.

Kargar added another 12 kilometres road was under construction in Khwaja Shahr district which was funded by United Nations Office for Projects Services (UNOPS).

Meanwhile, a 2.3-kilometre road was constructed in Kang district of Nimroz province. Officials of the rural rehabilitation and development said that road was connecting 11 villages with the district and cost 2,300,000 afghanis.
