Oct 11, 2014 - 15:09

MAIDAN CITY (Pajhwok): Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) headquarters should pay due attention to Wardak station, officials in this central province urged on Saturday.

Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN) that the (RTA) has almost no TV broadcasts here. Only limited radio programs are broadcasted that too are on the verge of diminishing, he feared.

Abdul Wahid Aatif, station manager in the province, echoed the concerns. Aatif said all of the staff there is capable and educated but lacked facilities. The municipality has allocated land for us but we lack funds to develop complex on it hence are stationed in this rented building, he noted.

Zareen Inzoor, (RTA) Director General, told (PAN) the Wardak station has been damaged by a suicide attack. We are committed to rebuild it after receiving a loss assessment report from the concerned officials, he added.

Recently, President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai has stressed the need to revitalize this state broadcasting institution.
