Badakhshan intelligence chief resigns

Badakhshan intelligence chief resigns

Aug 12, 2014 - 19:25

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Gen. Ali Ahmad Mubarez, the intelligence director for northeastern Badakhshan province, on Tuesday tendered his resignation, citing poor coordination among security organs.

Addressing a press conference, he said elements behind the fall of Yamgan district could not be punished so far. He recalled that 13 security personnel and a number of civilian had been killed and a large amount of weapons snatched by the Taliban during the battle.

Mubarez alleged officials of security organs were appointed on the directives of higher authorities. Talent and professionalism were not followed in their appointments, he claimed.

On Monday, Governor Shah Wali Adib was besieged along with the NDS director and police chief by Taliban in Juram district. However, they were rescued after two hours of fighting, which left four security personnel and three militants dead.
