Pakistanis accused of firing 56 rockets into Kunar

Jul 24, 2014 - 17:35

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Pakistani forces have fired a barrage of rockets into eastern Kunar province, local officials alleged on Thursday.

The provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News 56 rockets had been fired from across the border into Sarkano district.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Haseeb Syedkhel said the Pakistani soldiers started raining down rockets on the district on Wednesday night.

He said the cross-border shelling of Shunkri and Nawli areas continued until 9am (today), causing residents financial losses.

If the international community did not stop the Pakistani shelling, many residents of border areas of the district could be displaced, he warned.
