10-year-old pulled alive from rubble

May 03, 2014 - 14:26

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A day of a massive landslide buried an entire village in northeastern Badakhshan, rescuers on Saturday recovered alive a 10-year-old boy from the rubble.

In addition, rescue teams pulled out the bodies of two women after hectic efforts from the mudslide in Argo district.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) ordered the 209th Shaheen Military Corps to employ all available resources to evacuate the people trapped by tonnes of mud and rocks.

The mudslide hit the village in the Aab Barik area of Argo district after days of heavy rains. Up to 300 houses in the far-flung area were flattened as a result of the landslide.
