Private radio station attacked in Parwan

Private radio station attacked in Parwan

Sep 18, 2012 - 14:13

KABUL (PAN): Unidentified gunmen attacked the office of a private radio station in the central province of Parwan, officials said on Tuesday.

A Dunya Radio Station guard, Shah Aqa, told Pajhwok Afghan News the assailants hurled a stone into their room at around 4am.

As he lightened his torch, one of the two masked men opened fire at him, Aqa said, adding he traded fire with the attacker for a while. Later, the attackers escaped.

Afghanistan Journalists Association’s deputy head Ahmad Hanayesh condemned the attack, the second on the radio station since the beginning of the current year.

No one has so far claimed responsibility, but Hanayesh said the attack was carried out by the opponents of the freedom of speech.
