Young shepherd killed in Parwan blast

Apr 21, 2012 - 18:24

CHARIKAR (PAN): A young shepherd heading to graze his herd was killed, while his two friends were critically injured, when a warhead exploded in the central province of Parwan, officials said on Saturday.

The blast occurred at noon in the Nawaj area of Salang district, the district police chief, Maj. Gul Aqa Salangi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

One was killed and two others were wounded as a result of the explosion, he said.

The injured children, aged between 10 and 12 years, were in critical condition and had to be rushed to Kabul Emergency Hospital, he added.

A cousin of the victims, Amanullah, said that they were heading to the fields to graze their herd when the tragic event happened.

In an unrelated incident, a girl's corpse was recovered from a drain in the 3rd police district of Charikar city, the capital of Parwan, police spokesman, Abdul Hanan said.

The corpse was handed over to the health officials for postmortem, he said adding, and the girl was abducted four months ago.

The reason for her death remains unknown, he added.

A resident of Babakhel area of the city, Jawad, said he saw the dead body in a drain and called the police.

"Police took the body to the police headquarters," he added.
