Oct 06, 2011 - 18:31

CHARIKAR (PAN): More than 800 students, including 150 girls, appeared for the first time in a night institute entry test in the central province of Parwan, an official said on Thursday.

As many as 500 students would be granted admissions to the Government Institute on merit, the deputy dean, Frozan Abid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Government employees would pay 1,000 afghanis per semester and students from non-governmental organisations 5,000afs in tuition fee, she added.

"I have being working hard over the past 15 years to complete my education, but could not get the opportunity. Now I have a chance to do so by sitting the entry test," said a student, Aqa Sherin.

In 2008, the Teacher Training College was upgraded to the institute, which has more than 2,000 students at Departments of Dari, History, Geography, Chemistry, and Biology.
