Work on new building for energy dept. launched

Oct 23, 2010 - 15:03

PARAKH (PAN): Work on the construction of a new building for energy department has been launched in the central province of Panjsher, officials said.

The three-storey building with 16 administrative rooms and a hall is estimated to cost $200,000 which would be provided by the Afghanistan Brikhna Company, the department director, Saifullah Rasuli, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the existing building had two rooms where 11 employees were working.

Rasuli also said they planned to extend a transmission line to Jabl-us-Siraj district of neighbouring Parwan province.

According to the director, a dam would soon be constructed in Parinda area.

About 100 kilowatts of power is being produced in the province by wind turbines and being supplied to governmental departments.

The province has 25 departments with 18 of them have their own buildings. Buildings for four departments are under construction and the rest have no buildings, officials say.

Deputy governor, Abdul Rahman Kabiri, said the construction of buildings for remaining departments needed $4 million.

Panjsher was a district of Parwan province but in 2004 it became a separate province in compliance with a presidential decree from President Hamid Karzai.
