Women's Affairs Dept gets new building

<!--break--><p>PARAKH (PAN): A newly-constructed building, costing $240,000, for the Panjsher Women's Affairs Department was inaugurated on Wednesday, said an official.</p><p>Funded by the Ministry of Women's Affairs, the one-storey building with 12 rooms, a conference room and eight bathrooms was constructed in six months.</p><p>Previously, the department was housed in a rented building in the Bazarak neighbourhood, 15 kilometres from the provincial capital, Women's Affairs Director Maryam Panjsheri told Pajhwok Afghan News.</p><p>A spokesman for the department said four of their offices shared just one room, causing problems for employees and visitors.</p><p>Muhammad Mukhtar, a resident of the Baba Ali village, hailed the inauguration of the new building as a good step towards solving the problems of staff and people.</p><p>Officials say only 10 of the 35 departments have their own buildings in Panjsher, which was a district of Parwan province before it was given the status of a province in 2004.</p><p>am/mud</p>
